Wayne Elmer Williams, 78, of Granite City, IL, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at St Paul's Senior Community Center in Belleville, IL.

He was born on October 13, 1946 in Granite City, IL to Dewey Edward Williams and Helen (Whitmire) Williams.

Wayne married Karen Townsend in Granite City, IL on November 8, 1969.

The loving husband, father and grandfather retired from the aerospace industry after 40 years of service with McDonnell Douglas/ Boeing. Wayne was a U.S. Army veteran who received the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter Medal. He was a member of the machinist's union and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.

Wayne is survived by his wife; a daughter, Marcee (Tom) Stegemeier of Granite City; a son, Paul Williams of Belleville; 5 grandchildren:  Corey, Samuel, Logan, Aidan and Kolbie; a brother, Gerald Williams of Granite City; 3 sisters:  Winnie Pointer of Granite City, Rosetta Kuehnel of Granite City and Wanda Aiken of Granite City and numerous extended family members and friends.

Besides his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by a sister, Iva Mae Grant;  2 brothers:  Cecil Williams and George Williams and 2 half-brothers:  Ralph Williams and Everett Williams.

The family will hold a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Grace Church East Campus, 4701 IL-Rt 111, Granite City, IL 62040
