Vickie Carol Chastain, 71, of Wood River, IL passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at La Bella of Alton in Alton, IL.

She was born on December 26, 1954 in St. Louis, MO to John Henry Newton and Esther Marilyn (nee:  Lockwood) Hicks.

Vickie married James Chastain in Granite City, IL and he preceded her in death.

The loving mother and grandmother enjoyed reading, playing electronic games and watching old western movies.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Vickie is survived by 2 daughters:  Dana Easley of Louisville, KY and Sabrina (David) Acup of Wood River; a son, Shaun Miller of Troy, IL; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are 3 brothers:  Mike (Martha) Newton of Nashville, TN, Thomas (Tricia) Newton of Alhambra, IL and Timothy (Jennie) Newton of Staunton, IL; a sister, Tammie (Randy) Brewer of Bunker Hill, IL;  a brother in law, Greg Kowalski of Granite City and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, Vickie is preceded in death by a sister, Kimberly Kowalski.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
