Mary Helen Pieper, 88, of Granite City, IL died on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

She was born on August 6, 1936 in Carrollton, IL to Joe Polach, Sr and Mildred (Holmes) Polach.

Mary married Robert Pieper, Sr on September 28, 1953 in Granite City, IL.  He preceded her in death 2016.

The loving mother and grandmother enjoyed crocheting and ceramics.

Mary is survived by 2 sons:  Robert, Jr (Kathy) Pieper of Granite City and Donald Pieper of Granite City; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a brother Joe Polach, Jr of Granite City and a sister, Tina Grant of Holiday Shores.

Besides her husband and parents, Mary is preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Bercume; a son, Daniel Pieper; a brother, Charles Polach and a daughter in law, Alice Peiper.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Wojstrom Funeral Home.  Burial will be at a later date at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
