Mary L. Clavin, 83, of Mitchell, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at her home.

She was born on March 19, 1943 in Granite City, IL to Robert and Gilberta (nee:  Young) Bush.

Mary married Ronald Lee Clavin in St. Louis, MO on August 17, 1963.  He preceded her in death on April 5, 2016.

The loving mother and grandmother retired from Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL after 38 years as a purchasing agent.  She loved the night life.  Mary enjoyed shag dancing and listening to the oldies Rock n Roll and the Blues!!.  She devoted her whole life to loving and caring for her family.  Mary also loved taking care of her home and keeping things organized.  She loved animals (especially dogs) and was a supporter of the A.P.A.

Mary is survived by a daughter, Jody Lynn Sawyer; a grandson, Ronald D. Sawyer; 2 sisters:  Nina Foreman and Sandy Carter; a son in law, David Sawyer; best friend, Shirley Wilson and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, Mary is preceded in death by a sister, Edythe Stewart; in laws, Leo and Irene Clavin; 2 nieces:  Rhonda Cuvar and Laura Foreman; a nephew, Clifford T.K. Foreman and many aunts and uncles.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
