Marshall "Marty" L. Thomason, 85, of Granite City, IL passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Longevity of Granite City in Granite City, IL.

He was born on April 4, 1941 in Madison County, IL to Russell Thomason and Ruth (nee:  Covington) Moser.

Marty married Carolyn Hastings in Granite City, IL on July 18, 1987.  She preceded him in death.

The loving father and grandfather retired from the Terminal Railroad as a switchman after more than 30 years of service.  He was a member of St Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City, IL and a 4th degree Knight at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Granite City.

Marty is survived by a son, Marshall S. Thomason and his wife Judy of Atoka, TN; a granddaughter, Stephanie (Ry) Wilson and a sister, Diane (Mike) Boone of Granite City.

Besides his wife, Carolyn, Marty is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruth and Henry Moser, who was a great man and wonderful minister.  Marty also had 4 siblings who preceded him in death.
