John Marsala, Sr, 73, of Granite City, IL died on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at his home.

He was born on November 5, 1950 in St. Louis, Mo to Vincent, Sr and Dorothy (Hill) Marsala.

John married Shirley Morgan in Granite City, IL on November 5, 1972.

The loving father and grandfather enjoyed watching and playing sports.  He particularly liked to play horseshoes.  John was a big Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.  He also enjoyed singing.  John's best enjoyment was taking care of his children whom he loved very much.

John is survived by his wife; 4 daughters:  Gina Marsala of Granite City, IL, Lisa Marsala of Hopkinsville, KY, Kathy Marsala of Hopkinsville, KY and Tracy McHugh of Highland, IL; a son, John Marsala, Jr of Granite City, IL and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Also surviving are a brother, Jim Marsala of Granite City, IL; 3 sisters:  Tina Cell of Granite City, IL, Nancy Marsala of Granite City, IL and Shelly Crook of OK and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, John is preceded in death by 3 brothers:  Vincent Marsala, Jr, David Marsala and Larry Marsala and 3 sisters:  Jane Pigg, Lucille LaValley and Janet Lanford.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory in Granite City, IL.
