Joan Melzer, 93, of Granite City, IL passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at her home in Granite City.

She was born on February 11, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Thomas and Josephine (Nickleson) Kiernan.

Joan married Charles L. Melzer, Jr in Altamont, IL on July 22, 1950.  He preceded her in death on March 27, 2022.

The loving mother and grandmother enjoyed reading and watching game shows.  She really enjoyed watching reality TV shows and Survivor was her favorite as she never missed an episode.  Joan also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Joan is survived by 3 daughters:  Pamela (Tom) Herrmann of Scottsdale, AZ, Patricia (Toby) Conn of Las Vegas, NV and Janice (Scott) Langa of Sarasota, FL; 3 sons:  David Melzer of Granite City, Jeffery (Kandy) Melzer of Maryville, IL and Steven (Alice) Melzer of Temeculah, CA; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter and a sister, Pat Tvede.

Besides her husband and parents, Joan is preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Kiernan, Jr.
