Janice Loree Johnson, 78, of Granite City, IL passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 13, 1947 in Keokuk, IA to Joe and Maggie (nee:  Evermon) Rigsby.

Janice married Amos Walter Johnson, Jr in Granite City, IL on October 9, 1965.  He preceded her in death on June 23, 2026.

The loving mother and grandmother was a straight forward person as she did not sugar coat anything.  She would tell you what she really thought.  Her passions were Elvis Presley and pigs.  Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, whom she loved very much.

Janice is survived by a daughter, Melissa (Steve) Carter of Granite City; 3 sons:  Dean Johnson, Daniel (Christina) Johnson and Bryan Johnson all of Granite City; 4 grandchildren:  Holly (Daniel) Eudy, Rylee Johnson, Tyler Johnson and Tyler Noble and a sister in law, Patricia Rigsby.

Besides her husband and parents, Janice is preceded in death by a brother and sister in law, Larry and Barb Rigsby; a brother, Terry Rigsby and a sister, Betty Bird.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory in Granite City, IL.  The service will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
