Henrietta "Elaine" Holmes, 75, of Granite City passed away Sunday, July 12, 2026 in Granite City.  She was born January 19, 1951 to Clyde and Henrietta F. (nee: Kohn) Sanders.

She married James Holmes in 1983; he preceded her in death in 2025.

Elaine worked in real estate and property management.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Gregg) Falter; brother, Jesse Sanders; sisters; Shirley Plunk, Susan Smiley, Marjorie Cotton, Velma Burks, Sara Mitchell and Paula Reed; step-children, Mickey (Cynthia) Holmes, Anita (Mike) Acineli and Sandra (Tim) Lindsey; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Ruth Holmes.

She was preceded in death by her parent; husband; son, James Holmes Jr and brothers, Mitchell, John, Frank, Albert, Tim, Clyde Jr. and Norman Sanders.
