Donna M. Tanksley, 78, of Granite City, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

She was born on June 30, 1947 in Murphrysboro, IL to Charles and Erma (nee: Bailey) Welch.

Donna married Richard Tanksley in Granite City, IL on July 3, 1965.  He preceded her in death on July 25, 2021.

The loving mother and grandmother retired from the Granite City School District as a bus monitor after 20 years of service.  She enjoyed needle point and crocheting.  Donna was a kind and loving person who was everybody's mom as she raised her children, grandchildren and siblings.

Donna is survived by a daughter, Rhonda (Charles) Hatton of Granite City; 2 sons:  Jeffery (Lisa Nolan) Tanksley of Granite City and Rodney Tanksley of Pontoon Beach; 5 grandchildren:  Sabra Tanksley, Trey Hatton, Brandon Hatton, Shawn Tanksley and Matthew Tanksley and 2 great grandchildren:  Sage Tanksley and Mickkayla Tanksley.  Also surviving are 2 sisters:  Christy Hendrix of GA and Linda Turner-Welch of FL.

Besides her husband and parents, Donna is preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Welch.
