Donald Grayson Cooper, Sr, 75, of Pontoon Beach, IL passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at his home.

He was born on September 23, 1951 in St. Louis, MO to Marshall A. and Eva I. (nee:  Lotspeich) Cooper.

Donald married Barbara Dalton in Granite City, IL.

The loving husband, father and grandfather was a member of the Elks and VFW.  Donald was an avid pool player and played in several pool leagues.  He played for the Elks and also the VFW among others.  Donald was also an avid reader and also an avid lover of Universal Monsters with Frankenstein being his favorite. He also loved music with Pink Floyd being his favorite artist. Donald retired from Granite City Steel after 25 years of service as a crane operator and a water treater.

Donald is survived by his wife of 55 years; 2 sons:  Donald Jr. (Carrie) Cooper of Pontoon Beach and Matthew Cooper of Pontoon Beach; 3 grandchildren:  Calib, Sierra and Ayden; a brother, Robert Cooper of Collinsville and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Donald is preceded in death by 2 brothers:  Jim Cooper and Raymond Cooper and a sister, Marsha Lulac.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
