Biography

Marilyn Ruth Shanks, 71, of Granite City, IL, died at 12:25 a.m. Tues., July 17, 2012 at Stearns Nursing & Rehab in Granite City.

She was born Oct. 21, 1940 in Granite City to the late Earl M. & Dorothy (Stoppkotte) Mathews.

Marilyn had worked as a social worker for DCFS and was of the Nazarene faith.

Survivors include: a daughter, Michelle Morris and her fiancée, Gary Cato of Jerseyville, IL, 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, Michael & Kim Morris of Cottage Hills, IL, Dewayne & Wanda Morris of East Alton, IL and Skip Morris of Cottage Hills, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a sister and brother-in-law, Sandi & Bill West of Granite City and a brother and sister-in-law, Mark & Charlene Mathews of San Angelo, TX.

Services will be private with burial at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, IL.
