Biography

Laveta Fern Wells, 78, of Madison, IL, died at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 surrounded by her family.

She was born June 7, 1931 in Qulin, MO to the late Elmer & Sophia Ester (Meyer) Medlock.

She retired from Carter Carburetor Corporation in St. Louis, MO after 26 years of service. She attended Granite City Four Square Church. Laveta was an avid Cardinal’s baseball fan and enjoyed being with her family and playing bingo.

Survivors include: 2 daughters, Sandra Marlene Sprinot of Eldred, IL, Sharon Marie Hillmer of Madison, 3 sons, Allan Mark Wells of Pocahontas, Stanley Douglas Wells and Jeffrey Lynn Wells, both of Granite City, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a sister Geraldine Summers of St. Louis.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by: 2 sisters, Bertie Lou Harnetz & Neomi Wells, 3 brothers, Ed, Irvin & Landon Medlock and her former husband, Noah Sanford Wells.

Visitation will be Sun. 3/7/10 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory where services will be Mon. 3/8/10 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road.
