Biography

Francis Marion Morgan, 78, of Cahokia, died at 9:15 p.m. Mon. Feb. 1, 2010 at Belleville Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL.

He was born May 4, 1931 in Parker, KS to the late Francis & Gertrude (Petzel) Morgan Sr.

He and Elsie Maxine Ransom were married in 1963 in Illinois. She preceded him in death in Aug. 2006.

The US Army and US Marine Corps Korean War veteran retired from B & O Railroad after 26 years and then from Midwest Rubber after 18 years of service.

Survivors include: a daughter, Sandra (Ralph) Hunt of St. John, MO, 3 sons, Burton (Linda) Clemons of St. Peters, MO, Joe (Pam) Morgan and Rory Morgan of Cahokia, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 sisters, Helen Crow of O’Fallon, IL, Delores Cowgill of Festus, MO, Darlene Latchem of TX and Gladys Hirsch of Highland, IL.

In addition to his parents and wife of 43 years, he was preceded in death by: a daughter, Sharon K. Burke in 2009 and 2 brothers, John & Jim Morgan.

Memorial services will be at Foursquare Church in Granite City on Wed. 2/10/10 at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with military honors.
