John A. Bronnbauer, 79 of Granite City, IL died at 11:54 a.m. Mon. Jan. 18, 2010 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL.

He was born Dec. 19, 1930, in Amorbach, Germany to the late Karl & Maria (Galm) Bronnbauer.

On Feb. 20, 1954, he and Marilyn E. Walkenbach were married in Granite City, IL. She survives in Granite City.

Mr. Bronnbauer retired from Gebco Machine in 1988 after 38 years of dedicated service. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison, was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Schwaben Singing Club. He was also a member of the Eagles and was a soccer coach for many years in Granite City.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by: a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy & Jack Pritchard of St. Louis, MO, a son, Bill Bronnbauer and his companion, Mitzi of Mitchell, IL, 5 grandchildren, Aaron Pritchard and his wife Gina, Gary North Jr., SSGT Scott Bronnbauer, Ryan Bronnbauer and Ashley North, 2 great-grandchildren, Vada & Ryder Pritchard, a brother and sister-in-law, Heinz & Barbara Bronnbauer of Granite City, daughter-in-law, Laura Bronnbauer and son-in-law, Gary North Sr., 3 sisters-in-law, Yvonne Walkenbach, Rose Atwater & Bonnie Bronnbauer and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: a daughter, Linda North, 2 brothers, Richard & Alfred Bronnbauer, a sister and brother-in-law, Frieda & Stan Schwander and a brother-in-law, Bob Walkenbach.

Visitation will be Thurs. 1/21/10 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory with a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard at approximately 5:30 followed by a Chalice Service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Fri. 1/22/10 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Madison with Fr. Gene Prendiville as celebrant. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
